Media Art Process

1) My Drawing & Sketch

Left to Right- Pedro Musquiz, Tita De la Garza, Dr. John Brown
All characters belong to Laura Esquivel.

I was inspired to draw this picture because the main focus on Esquivel's novel was love/romance. Tita is in the middle, with a fire on her heart (Fire is a key symbol used in the novel. For those of you who know why, then good for you! For those of you don't, you'll find out why by reading the novel!)

If your wondering where Tita's other eye went, I didn't draw it and you'll find out why as you keep scrolling.

2) Adjusting Picture On MS Paint

There is her other eye! I didn't draw it because I have this problem where if I draw one eye the other eye will NOT look identical! So I used MS Paint to copy the eye and flipped it so it looks symmetrical. I also made some adjustments to Tita's face like moving the lips and nose lower.

I  noticed that the fire symbol on Tita's shirt did not look too great. So I googled a picture of a fire symbol and cut and paste it on using MS Paint. I can not take credit for the symbol.

3) Outline/Colour on Sai Paint

This process took 2 hours! I have a software called Sai Paint where I outlined and coloured the picture in! On the left you can see there are 3 layers, one for the original sketch, then the outline, and the colour. I used more than 7 layers for the colouring part but I merged all the layers into just one.

4) Editing/Text Using PicMonkey

I edited the overall picture (added a few effects, adjusted the contrast/brightness, resized the picture) and added the text on a editing website called www.picmonkey.com. Lucky for me, I found this text named "Sacramento" that looked like the font Laura Esquivel used on her book!

Here is a just a Poster without the Text!
